Human Design & Communication

Each of the five Human Design energy types (Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, Reflector) has distinct energy patterns and communication styles. 

By understanding what feels satisfying or frustrating (for Generators, for example) or what brings peace or anger (for Manifestors), individuals can better align their actions and communication, leading to more fulfillment and less wasted energy.

1. Manifestors are initiators—others feel their presence before they speak.

• Communication: Clear, direct informing is essential. Manifestors should not assume others understand their actions; proactive communication prevents confusion or alienation.
• Alignment Check: Notice if you feel peaceful (in alignment) or enraged (out of alignment).

2. Generators “move things along” and can work extensively when energized.

• Communication: Authenticity matters. Generators should listen to their gut (the sacral response)—making sounds like “uh-huh” or “uh-uh” can help clarify true desires and satisfaction.
• Alignment Check: Notice feelings of satisfaction (in alignment) versus frustration (out of alignment).

3. Manifesting Generators are the hybrid of generator and manifestor. They are fast, nonlinear, and enjoy juggling multiple interests and projects.

• Communication: Share enthusiasm without overwhelming others with the full scope of your excitement. Hone in on what truly lights you up and communicate that succinctly.
• Alignment Check: Similar to generators, attending to gut responses ensures decisions stay true to your energy.

4. Projectors “see” others deeply and often offer wise counsel.

• Communication: Wait for invitations before sharing insights—unsolicited advice may be wasted or even resented. Invitations ensure that energy is well-received.
• Alignment Check: Are your insights being invited and appreciated? Use this as your barometer.

5. Reflectors are the rarest type; open and reflective, sampling the energy of everyone around them.

• Communication: Take your time (even up to a month) to process and respond. There is no need to provide immediate answers.

Alignment Check: Are you honoring your need for time and not succumbing to pressure for quick responses?

I'm Kelly Tibbits. I live in New Hampshire. I found human design almost two years ago. It took me a while But along the way have found it to be incredibly useful. It's kind of my hyper fixation now. I think communication is one of those areas where human design can really help us. Different energy types communicate differently. The first type is the manifester. Manifesters begin things. They are bright energy. If you are a manifester, your aura is impactful. People can feel you coming before you open your mouth. Once I discovered this, I was able to identify these energies, I can recall working with them, my sister is one. And if you are a manifester, the most important thing to know is that what's clear to you might not be clear to others. And so you come in and your energy is bright, it's impactful, and if manifesters don't inform, other people feel left out. It's almost like recognizing this energy, this power that comes with being a manifester, and then choosing to communicate by using clear, direct language. It might feel unnecessary. Doesn't everybody understand what's going on here? But I think one of the things about self-awareness is realizing what do I do differently than other people? And how could I make communication easier? So a suggestion might be, I'm starting a project and here's what we'll create. Just something simple that lets people know the energy is moving. Don't assume people will just get it. I think that's a very interesting thing that I did not know about Manifestors that I either lived with or worked with. I know that energy, but I never really thought about how helpful it is when a manifester shares, Hey, we're beginning something. I'm creating something. I'm doing something, and announces it. Next I wanna talk about generators. Manifestors, bright energy, starting things, generators, big energy, moving things along. Strong energy. Very much what the capitalistic idea of work in America was based around. Generators can work those 9, 10, 11 hour days. And then everybody assumes everybody can do that. We can't all do it. Generators key to communicating is to be authentic. Generators and manifesting generators sacral energy- that's where we can check in without words and be able to ask a question like, am I sitting down right now? And instead of saying yes or no, say Uhhuh or Uhuh. Connecting to that part of us that is real and true. And using that ability on repeat helps you to get more clear on your yeses and your nos. Because none of us have unlimited energy, but we do have enough energy for what's ours to do. For generators to realize, yeah, you do have a lot of energy. And the people around you may not be generators They may not be able to keep up. Using that guttural sacral connection of Uhhuh Uhuh helps you notice what lights you up and what doesn't. Manifesters notice what gives you peace and what makes you feel enraged, that helps you notice, am I in alignment or out of alignment? Generators notice what makes me feel satisfied versus what makes me feel frustrated. That helps to know whether you're in alignment or not in alignment. So my whole passion in sharing any of these tools is that I think if all people were more in aligned with their energy, we would be sending light and hope and beauty into the world instead of fear. A manifesting generator is a generator because we have the sacral response, the ability to go uhhuh, uhuh. But we also have this manifesting side of us where we can initiate and begin. So it's a unique aura. And for manifesting generators as one. I wish I had known this back when I was like 21 because I love a life with lots of balls in the air. I love to pivot. I love to do a lot of things. I'm fast, I'm non-linear. I'm multi-passionate, and that's hard on people who are not manifesting generators. I do it differently, right? For me to notice my excitement and be able to share it, Hey, this has got me really excited, but not so excited that I try to explain the whole picture of everything. I get excited about the Enneagram. I get excited about human design. Instead of sharing a bite, I'm sharing enough that I could help you get certified in that. That's not best. So for me to notice, okay, this is what excites me. This is the plane I wanna be on, but not try to share the whole picture of everything. Noticing that energy for manifesters, manifesting generators and generators, then we go over to projectors. We have a few projectors here, and I think it's going to be really great for them to have that conversation about what it feels like to be around generators, manifestors, manifesting generators, and having any kind of expectation that our energy is the same. Projectors energy is penetrating and focused. People feel like you see them. However, when projectors share before someone's invited them in, people don't always listen. It's almost like a waste of their energy. People can get very defensive. So having an invitation as a projector is best. Being able to say to somebody, can I share this? I notice this. What would you think? As a communicating projector to be able to communicate in a way that feels like an invitation, does this resonate with you? Asking those kind of questions before you share. And then finally reflectors, their key to communicating is to notice that they are constantly sampling else's energy. Every single part of a reflector graph is open. It's receiving. Don't feel pressured to give an answer, to share your wisdom. Take your time. In fact, a lot of the human design books say, take a month, take the time. And then you have that wisdom to share and communicate. The takeaway -communicating is different for every single person. I think a gift you can give yourself is to notice. I think this may be true of me, and I don't think that's true of this person I'm communicating with. Is there a way to do it so that we are connecting, so we are honoring, so I'm not wasting my energy. That's just an overview. Trust that you'll receive tonight the piece that's yours. Nobody needs to leave today knowing everything. We communicate differently. Discovering how you communicate it's going to serve you. And having that grace that others do it differently can serve us in being in a relationship with each other.
