Let's connect.

I am cheering for you!

Hey friends, over the summer, I'm gonna be resharing some of my favorite episodes of the podcast, specifically about the summer series of filling your own soul with sunshine. So today we're gonna talk about how important it's to pivot, especially as we pivot into summer energy.

Speaker 3:

Welcome to the Live A Vibrant Life podcast. I'm life coach Kelly Titz, and each week I'll be here to encourage and equip you with the tools you need to grow in self-awareness and invest your best energy in your dreams and your purpose. I believe self-awareness changes everything. Let's get started.

Repeated noticing, deciding and practicing is cyclical. The more we do it, the more the process grows and builds into something that we can use in all areas of our life. Through this workbook you'll begin to notice and understand your own unique energy, and you'll be practicing the process of noticing what are you thinking, what are you feeling? What do you want to do? What do you not want to do? You'll become better at deciding. When we take the energy of indecision and apply it into deciding on one important goal- in creating small practices, we can transition into the summer vibe and allow you to have the time and stress management that increases your energy and allows you to have relationships that flourish. Working on this important but not urgent goal of transforming your life is worth it because as we invest in ourselves, everyone gets the best of us. The first step is notice. When was the last time you needed to go on a trip and you pulled out a suitcase to pack and there were still things in there from the previous trip? That's what happens to most of us with our thoughts, our feelings, and our actions. We don't pay enough attention and they begin to build up and exhaust us. If you took a moment right now and paused What would you notice? What are you thinking? What are you feeling? What do you want to do, and what do you not want to do? You'll notice that one of these three things, thoughts, feelings, or actions, is easiest for you to observe. So take a moment and decide to just give yourself the gift of noticing. What do you thinking? What are you feeling? What do you want to do? The next step of noticing is to notice your energy. You have emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical energy. Where are you right now? Are you in the depleted, exhausted space? Are you in a very comfortable aligned energy? And then notice what's working and not working for you in the areas of your life. I like to focus on three areas as we begin coaching, and that is taking care of yourself, noticing the responsibilities, the things you've already said yes to, and in the relationships in your life that feel important to you. What's working in each of those areas? What's not working for you? Just taking the time to notice can have such a big result. And then finally, as you look ahead to summer, what are you noticing about summer? Does your life currently feel balanced or unbalanced? Does the month or two ahead reflect the goals that you've decided are important, or are you, like Most of us and the urgent things of life tend to get all of our energy. My energy check-in page can be photographed and then used on a daily basis as a really quick check-in. Most of us have had days where we can remember what it feels like to feel exhausted and depleted. And if that's you today, you won't be able to tell the difference between your mental, emotional, physical, spiritual energy. You're just exhausted and depleted. By noticing that you're on the path to health, you can begin to say the yeses and nos that grow your energy in the areas that are important to you. When you're in red, yellow, and green energy, mentally, emotionally, physically, you might notice they're not all the same, and that during the day your energy changes. You might wake up with some low physical energy that kind of peaks into yellow, green energy during the day, and then you begin to see it go back to yellow, red in the evening. Very, very normal. So you might want to check in with your energy multiple times a day by keeping track of what you're noticing, you might begin to notice patterns that can serve you. One of the best gifts you can give yourself is to decide in advance what activities you want to do with the energy you have. If you have green physical energy and green mental energy, that is precious energy. Make sure you're saving that special time of day for things that are very, very important to you. Sometimes during the day, you might have some red physical energy, but you still have good mental energy. That might be a time where you want to sit and do some finances. Maybe finish a project that has a lot of mental parts to it, but it wouldn't be the best time to perhaps do some gardening or a deep clean where you had to move a lot of heavy things. So deciding in advance what you want to do when your energy is at different levels can really serve you as you begin to notice. Decide in practice what is important to you. Decisions are one area that we begin to notice if our mental energy is strained, tired, exhausted, or if we're really flourishing and aligned. Decisions come from a space after we notice. So the first thing you always want to do is have a blank piece of paper and notice what you're thinking, what you're feeling, what you want to do, what you don't want to do, and then once that's all there, you want to make one decision at a time. The metaphor I often use is if on a Saturday morning you have six different things you want to do, you want to go to the library and get gas and go grocery shopping, even though they're all important, you can't drive to all six places at the same time. You won't get anywhere. So deciding to focus on one area at a time is where we see the best results. If you choose to focus on one area this summer, make sure you're deciding all of the decisions from a place of love for the current version of you and the future version of you. What I mean by that is when you do the energy check-in, if you're noticing that you're in red or depleted energy, maybe the most important decision is to get some rest. So deciding what results you want might feel uncomfortable. You may be like me and have spent a lot of years of your life looking outside yourself for the decisions about what's important, and it's okay to feel uncomfortable. It's part of why the coaching circle is such a gift to be surrounded by other people who say, I understand. But use this gift of deciding to return the energy that is often given out when we stay in indecision. Choose one result. Once you know who the results you want, then you can choose the action steps that allow you to create the result. A really important part of decisions is deciding the feelings needed to complete the action. Say your decision was you want to run a 5K by the end of summer. You know that every single day when it's time to put on your sneakers and go for that first walk, you're probably not going to feel excited to go. But could you feel determined or committed? In order to find that feeling in your body, you'll need a thought that creates that feeling. I'm determined to walk every day, might create some determination. I'm committed to gifting myself 20 minutes a day for this important thing. Will probably create committed energy and it's normal again for one of these three areas. Your thoughts, your feelings, your actions to be more natural and easy to identify. Growing in the ability to access all three is what growing in self-awareness looks like and is part of your continuing coaching journey. Again, pause if you need to, but what decision would you like to decide today? Finally, once we have a decision, it is time to create the small practices, the small action steps that allow us to create results. The smaller the action step, the better chance that we have of succeeding. And so our biggest gift that we can give ourselves is to keep the number of small steps small and to make them so small that it's hard to not do them. And accept that you probably will feel uncomfortable giving your best energy to you. And that's okay. It's okay to feel uncomfortable. In addition, say your three baby steps happen to be the very first day that you're going to do them. All of a sudden life happens and gets in the way, and you only get through two of the three baby steps. That's a hundred percent okay. In fact, it's best to expect life to get in the way. That's why keeping these small steps so small allows us to come back again the next day. So, what do I mean by this? If you were to say, I would like an organized kitchen by the end of summer, it wouldn't be very kind and loving to say on the first day, my three steps are take everything out of the kitchen, paint the entire kitchen, and put everything back. Those steps are too big, but it might be, I'm going to start with this small shelf of glasses. I'm gonna give away three, I'm gonna clean the shelf and put them back. Once you've begun to notice your decisions in creating small practices, it's important to check in with yourself and decide did the result turn out the way you wanted. Through coaching with Kelly, you're gonna learn two of the three pillars, and the first one is the notice decide practice pillar, where we spend our time over and over again, getting better at noticing what we're thinking, feeling what we want to do and what we don't want to do. Deciding one decision at a time and creating small practices. That's the first pillar. The second one is the serenity prayer, that there are things in life we need to accept because we have no control over them, and there are things in life that require courage. The areas that we have control over. Our, our thoughts, our feelings, and our actions. So as you begin to notice your results, sometimes the answer will be yes, this is exactly the result I wanted, and it's worth noticing what created that result. It's important to celebrate and decide your next goal. Sometimes you're gonna notice, Hey, I did all of the small practice steps, but the results I wanted was not created. Usually that means we need to cycle back and go to the notice step. Is there anything I need to accept something that's not mine to change? Is there anything I need to decide? Maybe instead of 10 minutes a day, I'm going to make it a 20 minute a day practice. The best gift you can give yourself this summer is time to notice your energy, time to notice what you're thinking, feeling, what you want to do and what you don't want to do. To have a plan in place of what small practice steps you will be doing or to create the result of the decision that you've decided on, and using our activities by energy level chart can help you have those practice steps created in advance so that when you find yourself with some good physical energy, but kind of a low mental energy place, you'll already have some practice steps that you can use during that time of energy. I hope that you use the tool today to pivot into summer.
