Let's connect.
I am cheering for you!
Welcome to the Live A Vibrant Life podcast. I'm life coach Kelly Tibbitts, and each week I'll be here to encourage and equip you with the tools you need to grow in self-awareness and invest your best energy in your dreams and your purpose. I believe self-awareness changes everything. Let's get started.
Kelly:Welcome to the Live A Vibrant Life podcast. Today we're going to be talking about one of my new favorite ways to grow in self-awareness, and that is through human design. So I have two friends here today, shira, why don't you introduce yourself, and then Apira, you can introduce yourself.
Shira:I'm Shira. I am a mom of two girls. I have a photography business and I met Kelly, in a coaching program a few years ago. I am obsessed with self-growth. I came across human design a few years ago and I'm so excited that we are having this discussion. And Apira
Apira:Thank you for having us on, on your podcast today. My name is Aira. I'm a career coach. I've been working toward clarity, alignment and human design has recently been a big part of that learning. So I am very excited for our conversation.
Kelly:One of the cool things is we're going to be hosting something together where if people are listening to this podcast, they could come and join us live and hear us talk about it, but also have an open space so people can come and ask questions. And if they're as excited by human design as we are, just a place to talk about it, I think is really fun. So human design is another self-awareness tool. For me, it really felt true as soon as I learned it. Looking at my children and my daughter is married and some of their friends- every person I've shared this with has felt a deep alignment with their human design. What was your initial reaction to learning about human design? Did anything resonate with you?
Apira:Oh yeah, absolutely. As soon as I learned I was a projector and what that meant, it immediately just made so much sense. The fact that projectors they're not. Meant to have a ton of energy, but more about guiding the other human design types, and their energies. I feel like that's what I've been kind of naturally do my whole life. And it was reassuring to hear that or see that, in the form of human design.
Kelly:So it just resonated with you immediately. Shira, how did human design resonate with you? Was it immediate? Was it something you grew in your understanding
Shira:of? It was pretty immediate, just like Aira said. Same. I mean, when I first realized I was a projector, everything just kind of, felt very validating and, you know, I always questioned why I felt like I was always pushing myself and I was always tired and, you know, just feeling like there was just so many little things. Also, the strategies, learning about the bitterness that I would feel if I wasn't in alignment and, the success that I would feel if I was what. The profile numbers. That was a huge part of it- for me. Putting everything together.
Kelly:That's what I think we'll talk through. We're going to talk about What do these words even mean? Projector manifest or manifesting generator? What are our strategies and our profiles? We wanted to start with just the fact that when we found our human design, it resonated. It gave us a sense of, Hey, nothing's gone wrong. This is how I was designed. I hope that that's what you'll hear as we talk about this. I'm a manifesting generator and I loved learning that I was meant to do many things. In my life, I've been happier with several part-time jobs rather than one consistent part-time job. I'm the kind of person who wants lots of balls in the air. And then some of the understanding that came really transformed. How I think about my own life. One of the things that human design can help us notice is when we're out of alignment. I think energy, when it's aligned, looks so different in every human than when we are out of alignment. Have you ever felt out of alignment either in your work or in your life, and what did that feel like? Because human design would say it's a not self when you're out of alignment. Shira, have you ever been out of alignment
Shira:Usually feels harder. It feels like anxiety, a lot of anxiety. It feels like pushing, it feels like, like not Self is really such a great term because that's what it feels like. For you to notice sort of an anxious feeling might be. Not self, it might be out of alignment for you For sure. Apir, does it feel the same for you? Like an anxious feeling, or does it feel different?
Apira:One of the things human design says is that projectors are not really meant for like nine to five, long hours, you know, Monday to like, you know, everyday type of thing. It's really meant for a lot of rest. With some little bursts of energy I'm working corporate jobs, so I dunno if I'm fully in alignment right now, but am working towards the goal of incorporating more of that alignment. There's definitely some days that, are better than others, but I can tell that by the time I'm midweek has come, I am quite exhausted and depleted. Really just looking for that rest to be incorporated.
Shira:I so relate to that and I stopped working a nine to five pretty early on, like I knew when I was in my twenties that it was not for me. That's why I started like my photography business because I needed to have my own work schedule.
Kelly:We are calling people to aligned energy. This whole idea of nine to five or the five day work used to be a six day work week. All of this was not created with humans at the center. Right. It was capitalism. Maybe as people listen to us today, they'll start to say, Hey, when I check in with myself this way of doing it doesn't work for me. As I grow in my human design, I'm noticing, oh, of course, I wasn't even meant to be somebody who does this. So there's different ways of doing life. In human design They call that the types and the strategy. The different types include projectors and manifestors generators, manifesting generators and reflectors. We weren't going to go deep today. We want to invite people to join us live or to read a book. But Shira and Apira were telling you, Hey, as a projector, they are waiting for the invitation. Now they know that that's the way they were designed As a manifesting generator, I'm supposed to respond to the things in my life. And I've learned to trust my own sacral. Feel that Uhhuh Uhuh and not just say yes to everything, because I'm a compliant people pleaser. Was there anything that comes to mind where knowing your human design helped you act differently than you would've before you had information I'll share as a manifesting generator, learning about my sacral center and knowing that I could ask myself, do I want to do something and listen for an aha, like a yes before I say yes to something, has helped me say no to so many things. Now I have so much more energy and I'm way less resentful. I used to just say yes to things because people ask me, and now I know to sort of trust my own inner guidance. Can you think of any example where knowing your human design has helped you do something differently? I.
Shira:I mean, yeah, for sure, I don't have a specific example, but definitely learning about waiting for the invitation made so much sense. I would often find in my life that I would be giving advice or trying to get people to understand something. And if they weren't willing to hear it, if they weren't looking for it, I was, feeling resentful that they didn't. Yeah. You know, really take it. But learning to wait for the invitation, it's made so much sense. Once somebody would come to me or ask me, then they are willing to and open to hearing what I have to say and to just kind of learn to wait for that to happen instead of putting my, self out there for people who were not wanting to hear it.
Kelly:Well, I really love knowing several of you projectors and watching you learn this. And watching you do this. You have such huge gifts to bring to the world, and if you wait and give it to the people who are open and ready, it's such a different experience than trying to share with somebody. Right. I think a lot of us, especially in the coaching world, been inspired, by people who are manifesters who are coming and they put stuff out and, and we're just drawn to that. And for you to notice, as a projector, wait for the invitation and it's actually better for them and for me. Apira, anything come to mind about how learning about your human design and. Has helped you act differently.
Apira:Yeah, absolutely. And I, I just quickly want to say how amazing it is Shira, that you were able to recognize at such early age that full-time corporate wasn't the way for you and that you were willing to do your own business. To me that's still very scary. Mm-hmm. And, and amazing to see that you're able to sustain yourself, off of your own business. So that's, that was really cool.
Shira:Yeah. Do that so, so early. Well, I didn't, right when I got married and I had health insurance, so that helped.
Apira:Right, right. Yeah. But in terms of your question, Kelly, I think similar to what Shira said, wait for the invitation. Projectors have very piercing energy. Mm. Like they can see through people really quickly. I noticed that about myself. Like I can just get to the core of like certain things when I meet people. I learned the whole wait for the invitation quite early on. It's through my own family members. Like I have my youngest sibling who I would just constantly give advice to, but he didn't want to hear it and or wasn't ready to hear it. And it was really frustrating. That was one example, but very important learning for me to really understand that, people have to be ready to hear the advice. Yeah. And so yeah,
Kelly:that's been interesting. Because we only have so much energy. So if we can learn these things, we can put the energy into places where it's productive instead of sharing it with people who are not open and receptive. Even my own children, I think being a coach is really a gift that I have, and they will say to me clearly, mom, we're not looking for a coach right now. We're looking for a mom. So it would not be at all a good way, place for my energy to go. Right. Shira, you were talking about understanding yourself as a six two projector. The profiles were really helpful to you. There's six different profiles. Yours is a 6/2. Is the role model hermit. What did you learn about being a 6/2?
Shira:It was validating. It just made sense. The hermit side of me, the two is really just about needing that alone time to recharge. I find that that's when I get my best clarity mm-hmm. In anything that I'm looking for. If I'm confused or wanting to create content or on social media or something like that it's when I'm alone that that comes to me. So I have been working to incorporate that into my every day as much as possible. And I, feel such a difference in alignment when I can do that, you know? Mm-hmm. And, the six, the role model, was really about the, three periods in your life and it totally corresponded to my life and how everything was working. Yeah, it was really just a very validated,
Kelly:and I feel the same way. I'm a one three manifesting generator, and the three was, I was meant to make mistakes and learn from them. And I think I lived a lot of my life trying not to make any mistakes. And that was such a validating thing to look back and say a hundred percent the things that were quote unquote mistakes were so important for me to learn from, to become the person that I am. Apira anything about the profile that spoke to you?
Apira:Yeah. So, so I'm a four six and I think, it was interesting to learn about different phases. And then just growing in confidence as you go through the three stages felt really interesting to me. Then the four was, about community. I guess I didn't really realize that that was a strength of mine really until that was called out and, and that was, validating as the right word. I would use that as well. Very reassuring, very validating to hear that is a strength, something to be proud of. I could easily just like brush those things off, but it was interesting to see it highlighted.
Kelly:I love that. Well, some people might be looking for how did this come to be and which different,, spiritual lenses did it come from? It comes from a lot of different places. I loved listening to one of the teachers talk about,, do I want to spend any more time figuring out how it was created? Or do I want to just spend some time noticing if it's useful or if it makes sense for me? And human design, looking at the clarity that I got from it, every person I've shared it with, it's like an aha moment. Nothing's gone wrong. This is how I was a design, this is true. This gives me clarity. All of those different things. Noticing that we can then say, is there a way to apply what we've learned about ourselves from human design to making our lives? For me it's about living a vibrant life and aligned life. Human design can help you to the minute detail of when to eat and where to work, and all of these really interesting things that come from learning your own human design. I talked about learning how to trust my own sacral gut responses. Is there any one thing that you have chosen to sort of highlight? So you talked about building community or spending time alone. Is there any one thing that comes to mind something that has given you some more understanding about yourself? Is there any one specific aspect that you're like, I'm going to add this to my daily routine. I'm going to make sure I have time alone. I'm going to make sure that I listen to my gut. Anything come to mind that you want to highlight now before we move on?
Apira:I would say for me- I would definitely say the rest. I used to think of that as not such a good thing or, question like, why am I tired? That was often on my mind and try to push through or drink more coffee, to get back that energy if I really needed to get something done. But understanding that was actually pushing against my nature and that I should be honoring my natural energy needs, through rest was really important. I've been trying to do more of that. If I feel like there's this to do you know, maybe it can be pushed off for now, let's just focus on just. A little present, more present and just, we'll worry about that later. And I think
Kelly:that's such a gift as you meet other projectors, to be able to say to them, you were created this way to rest when you're tired. I don't know if either of you have read Gabor Mate, but he wrote a book called The Myth of Normal, where he said that 80% of autoimmune diseases are in women. I think that's because women over and over again go past our limits and instead of saying, oh, I was created to rest first or to wait for the invitation, we go and we give our energy to every place except for ourselves and we end up sick. For you to be able to say to projectors, Hey, here's something I learned. If I can rest well first, everything in my life goes better. Shira Anything come to mind that you wanted to highlight?
Shira:There is so many. There's not really one specific thing. I would say daily, the alone time and the rest together and just like we said before, the, waiting for the invitation, all of those things have just become part of my daily life. But there was just, there's so much when you really dig into it about like your motivation, your environment, certain things that you learn where you work best. For me, the gates. That gave me a lot of insight into myself and, and there's so much.
Kelly:But I also love that you said you've been doing this for years. This is not a quick one and done. You read one book. Now you know everything about yourself. It's very nuanced, but I also think it's great when you get to do it in community and have people to talk through. So you have the books, different podcasts and workshops, but getting a place where you could talk about it and hear other people, I think is very beneficial. And that brings us to Apira as a career coach, you've hosted online events before and we were thinking it would be fun to do something similar Human design could actually impact people in their careers. Is that something you're noticing?
Apira:Yeah, absolutely. I think anything to do with really discovering how you best work. You know, we just, we talked earlier about, the differences in how, like, you know, my energy, in corporate life, community versus. If you were to, you have more control over the hours that you're working and, and putting your energy into like that, those differences there like can really give you some, clarity, I think, in the path that you might want to see yourself in terms of your future career. I think that was something that, is newer to me and, it's so amazing to get that type of clarity. I'm really excited for the workshop that, we're going to be having together.
Kelly:One of the reasons we want to host it is we think that finding out about yourself does serve you not just as a self-awareness tool, but in how you do life. Shira pointing out that discovering this helped her on the path from a photographer to a coach. We think that human design can help you as you're choosing your careers, as you're transitioning in careers. Finding satisfaction in your job. Having three daughters who are in the workforce and teaching them about human design has been so interesting. Whether it's them checking in with their gut because all of them are either generators or manifesting generators, and being able to say like you intuitively have an AHA or an Uhuh before you make decisions. Whether it's to pivot in a career or to go from a promotion and to trust yourself. There's another interesting part of human design, which is the environments where you're most aligned. One of my daughters does better if she can be in a like smaller place. Other of my two children, knowing that they need this kitchen environment and people around them it's very interesting. We see this lived out like why Starbucks was invented is because when people can come together, these gates and channels get connected and you really do think and feel and connect to yourself better when people who have these other gates and channels are near you. It's so interesting., We're not trying to convince you it's real. We're trying to say, Hey, look at your human design and see if it feels like something that could serve you to know. The three of us are here today to say it totally helped us to know this about ourselves and that's why we want to have a conversation focusing around careers and clarity. I really think every part of our life can be a career, right? As a mom, the time I spent with my children, that was a really important thing. I did volunteer work I did. So it's not necessarily for pay, but before you go and put your energy in different places, what if you could find out the very best way you work? How were you designed? Any actionable steps that you would say to somebody? Would it be, you know, go listen to podcasts, read a book, obviously come to our live coaching as well. If you hear this after our live coaching, it'll be recorded and you'll be able to listen to it. Any specific way that you think, this is really what helped me grow in my understanding and application of human design. I'll just say I love listening to people who talk about it. I love podcasts where there are people who talk about human design. I also think TikTok is a really great place to get these little nuggets. My favorite TikTok person is Reiki Marco. I think hearing people talk about human design is a way that I've grown in my own understanding, Apira any way that has helped you?
Apira:Various sources for me as well. I i've come across a few YouTube channels. I've done like my human design chart online and purchased blueprints. Chat GPT was, interesting as well. I love that. Can you talk about that
Kelly:just a little bit? 'cause you taught me about chat, GPT. So can you tell us about that?
Apira:It was interesting. I just randomly decided to try putting in my chart and asking chat GPT to tell me about it. And I was able to return some information explaining the different gates, the channels, you know, so it was, especially if you're newer to it, I felt like it, it's a good way to get an intro to what those might mean. If you just want to explore it a bit, I think that's a good resource to start with.
Kelly:So to go online, get your chart done, and then put that information into chat, GPT. If you Google free human design test, there's a lot of different creators out there. Shira, what did you notice?
Shira:I started out with different coaches that I would follow and I would hire them for readings. And it was very interesting 'cause they were all so different. All the readings I got, they were from different people and they were all so different. But doing the free chart, and then just researching on the internet. There's actually a lot out there on, on YouTube as well, and, podcasts. So I love to do it all, but I will say that with chat, GPT, you have to be careful because I have, I love it and I use it all the time, but sometimes it gives me the wrong information. So make sure you get the chart first. Yes. And then put it in because if you just put your information in it, it doesn't always come out with the right.
Kelly:Yep. And that's because there's so much nuance to this. We want to invite everybody to join us for this live event where we can go a little bit deeper. I think we're in fact planning on doing two events as of right now because there's so much that we want to talk about. Apira, anything you want to share about our upcoming event?
Apira:So Eventbrite, we're going to be sending the link through that so you can register through there.
